  1. Zero, your exe file is not v8.1.1 looks like it is v8.1 quote: Directory of C:Mcam8 01/26/2001 09:18a 8,130,560 Mill8.exe You need to download and run the v8.1.1 patch
  2. From the main menu in Mastercam go File, Next Menu, DOS shell and type in dir mill8.exe It should look like below. code: C:Mcam8>dir mill8.exe Volume in drive C has no label Volume Serial Number is 1E63-1503 Directory of C:Mcam8 MILL8 EXE 8,167,424 05-01-01 11:09a mill8.exe
  3. Jay, have you ever seen snow before down in California? This year we have not seen snow yet either in Toronto. [ 12-13-2001: Message edited by: Glenn Bouman from In-House ]
  4. Check the date on mill8.exe it should be: MILL8 EXE 8,167,424 05-01-01
  5. Just copy and run the patch file from the MCAM8 dir
  6. That has been fixed in V8.1.1 You can get the patch here: http://www.emastercam.com/patches/v8/
  7. DNC-MAX from CIMCO is the best way to go. It has a Mazak protocol that supports both ISO and CMT format. Also allows you to remotely callup the file from the machine. Let me know if you need referances of customers that use DNC-MAX with mazaks.
  8. Or you can use the EDITNCI chook and scale the NCI file. How come you are still using V8.0? Talk to your "dealer" about getting the free V8.1.1 update.
  9. To see the feedrates in backplot, right click on the NCI name in the op manager and it will take you into the toolpath editor then step thru to see the feedrates for every move. If you have a wheel mouse you have use that to brows thru the moves.
  10. Being from university and you cannot put a complete and intelligent sentence together in the english language?
  11. Backplot the 2 operations on this file to see the cycle time savings using highfeed or the trimming option. RECTANGLE-WITH-ARC-GLENN.zip Andy, "The Maximum air cutting" value in highfeed in relation to the "Maxmum feedrate change per block". A small air move may not get up to the maximum value. 12. I think that you would better cycle time reduction using the HIGHFEED instead of having to trim the toolpath.
  13. Nothing to be scared of, it will put the fun back into machining watching the tool do the air cuts at 200 ipm and then slow down just before it starts cutting. You may want to warn the operator ahead of time if he has a heart condition.
  14. Mike-T, you are correct that is why if you check the tool libraries that come with Mastercam you will see that each tool has a "% of matl feed per rev." For example the 1/16 drill has 1% and the 2" drill has 200%
  15. The function to do what Hugh wants is Toolpath, Next Menu, Circ tlpths, Autodrill. It also chamfers the hole with the spot drill. Works based on the arc diameter.
  16. Looks like they only have Translate under Toolpaths, Next Menu, Transform You could generate the NCI file and use the WEDITNCI.DLL chook. Select Rotate under Xform [ 11-27-2001: Message edited by: Glenn Bouman from In-House ]
  17. Kenneth's method is what was used for this mountain a number of years ago. Mountain After the surfaces where made. Used Multi-surface contour to slice it at every 2 inch. Each slice was a separate program and cut on a waterjet out of 2" thick aluminum plate. Over 20 feet high. It is located in downtown Toronto at Nathan Phillips Square. 18. You can get the same results by using the move_ang variable and have a dwell output based on moves that have a angle greater than 55 degrees as shown below. if (move_ang > 55 | move_ang < -55), "G04 P2"
  19. The "gouge" volume is amount of material removed from the actual shape of the part. You would have to set the toolpath tolerance to near 0 for that volume to be 0. Since the actual part shape is derived from the STL model of the part, the tolerance used the generated the STL also needs to be tight.
  20. If you are using Cimco-Edit, under the "recieve CR/LF settings" set to 10 instead of Auto
  21. Check Mm_in.tl8 which is a library of inch tools with Metric values. When defining a tap the "inch/metric values" switch in the tool definition will change the wether you have to enter the TPI or the Pitch.
  22. It can be done with a bit of logic added to your post. The variable "cstart" is set to 1 on the first move after the leadin is completed and "cend" is set to 1 on the last move before the leadout starts.
  23. Mastercam’s thread table is located in a text file called THREAD.TBL in the mcam8 directory. Because this table contains only a few of the many thread forms available, you can edit the thread table with a text editor to add thread forms that you use the most or delete thread forms that you use the least.
  24. For more control on cut direction you may also want to try the new Surface, Finish, Project: "Two curve blend" This is available with latest surface machining app. http://www.emastercam.com/patches/v8/apps/appmch81-1016.exe Run the Appcfg.dll chook to enable new surface machining options. Read Appcfg.doc for more info. This allows you to select two curves (or chains) which define a temporary ruled surface. Multiple cuts are made along or across this ruled surface in either a zigzag or one way ordering. You may specify the maximum stepover between the curves. The cuts are projected onto the underlying surfaces/solid faces.
  25. Use the Drillpt.dll chook which will create a point on full arcs that have the same color as your main color setting
