Axis substitution works for me
Just create a line in the top view starting
at the center of rotation - this line should be
pi x dia of rotation long - easy to get this by
generating a line then in the length box type
"L" and pick on a circle the diamter of rotation
now create as many points as you want and write
drill toopath in the top plane - the point at the end of the line in the center of rotation will drill at 0 at the middle of the line the point will drill at 180 be aware that if you want 4 equally spaced holes create 5 points because the the one at the far end drills at 360 which duplicates the the first end
-
awkward but - create a surface where the plane is
-note this also works with any surface - create
a plane normal to the curve - if it is a spline
extend the spline then put points on it and create a line through the points - then create
a circle at the endpoint then create a swept
surface using the circle and the line or spline
then trim the original surface to the swept
surface and create an edge curve on the trimmed
surface and put a point in the center of the edge curve

Thanks I did not know that - will give it at try

I have X4 - we have a customer that has X4 -
but some of the shop people are still using
V9 and they want to continue using it - I thought I had a copy of v9 demo disk so
said I would provide them with one - but
it turns out I dont have a disk
-
Anyone have a V9 demo disk they are willing to
share
Thanks for any help

Choose settings
Configure
Default Machines
Pick your machine
Start exit
Start up product
Mill

The edges of the surfaces have to meet and be
the same length where they meet - also the surface normals have to point in the same direction Maybe recreate the surfaces using a swept surface
-
If the engraving is on the end use c-axis face contour
-
It helps to be in 2d and the corrsct plane when trimming

Is there a way to install toolbar configurations
on several computers that are the same then
lock the installation so no one can change them?
-
On the gap settings page there is an option to
to extend the toolpath using the "tangential line length" box - maybe this will work for you
-
Check your settings on the arc filter tolerance page the smoothing settings on the top
-
Check to see if sorting is on
Also to do bolt circles select automatic and pick the first hole then the second hole then the
last hole and it will do them in order
-
If they are drawn as rectangular grooves just
pick two opposite crners on all grooves - they
do not have to be the same size
If they are the same size and shape program one
groove and translate the toolpath
If grooves are irregular shapes pick multiple
chains from the menu chain all using partial chain
-
If it is the same program that is posting
it will be locked - unlock the program and
regenerate the toolpath and highfeed will be gone
-
If the holes are equally spaced create one
circle and do x form translate as many as needed
To create center points - go to setting - configure - cad settings - and set automatic center lines to on then create a fillet on two sides of the octagon with a radius equal to the hole radius this will create points at the center location of the holes - if circles needed
create them at the points by locking autocursor
to points and locking the raduis setting
-
In the help file the default keys are
listed under Mastercam interface -
but customized settings do not seem to be listed
-
It is one surface right - if its not this
can cause that
-
Thanks for the help

I know this has been covered in the past - but
my search didn't find it - How do you edit
toolpaths that have been exported to the ops folder- and how can these toolpaths be deleted from the folder
Thanks for any help
-
Set autocursor to nearest
Select beak two pieces
Select entity to break
Move cursor along entity to any position
click mouse - it will break at that point
-
Be careful with the copyright issue - a local
school got in trouble over a baseball logo
-
Or drill the holes - backplot - save as geometry
-
Set cut depths absolute max to below top of part
If using incremental set adjustment to top cut
to a positive value equal to amount of first cut
wanted - a negative incremental number will set the first cuts above the part

Two things to try set - point generator to create
more cut moves in the corner - enable fanning
which starts the tool leading into the corner before the corner actually starts
