In V9 I think you could mask levels but dont
see how to do it in X
-
Don't know if this is possible - but when I had
zone alarm on my system it interfered with
some Mastercam functions
-
Choose the Z- end as the start point and the Z+
end as the end point - this should give a LH thread
-
Look in the tool library and see if the coolant is defined as on for those tools
-
Try putting a spindle under the Z axis
Also It seems that it is necessary to select
the green check mark at the the bottom of
the screen and save the definition and then
come back to machine definiton and do the save as
part of the creation
-
Check the tool settings in the librayr see if coolant is on - if you are using cut depths and
feed from the tool it could be setting coolant as well
-
Create edge curves on all edges
In front view select arcs in window to delete
those in the top plane
Use C-Hook "drill pt" to get points in arcs
select points and set depth to incremental
and top of stock and retract to absolute
-
Unroll the wireframe flat - then write a toolpath
such as pocket then roll the toolpath around the
x axis - can e-mail a sample file if you like
-
Select long line - do Alt E - the long line
will be blanked - do waht you want with the short line - do Alt E the long line will come back
-
Could be plunge parameters setting
-
Looks like the surface is flat so create a
c-plane normal the surface edge curve and
trim to that edge curve - if trim lines are not parallel and surface is not flat - create a c-plane normal to each line and project a point to the surface using view break the line at the projected point and delete the unwanted half
-
The arc size dll gives the error recompile for
a version number - but a work around is to
select all arcs and copy them to a new level
then close arcs and create a hole table
Thanks for the suggestions
-
Is three a way to find the smallest arc on a part
finding the samllest complete circle is fine
but can the smallest radius be found
Thanks for any info

All geometry must be closed to create solids
-
Thank You

No experience with this - but what about 5-axis
toolpaths limited to 4 axis output - it needs
a special post to do this - this particular toolpath looks like curve 5 axis
-
Sorry - running level 3 X3
What is the c-hook called
Thanks for the responses so far

Is there a way to delete a level
-
In the operation s manager choose files
and choose the mill inch operations
at the bottom by clicking on the excclamation
point at the top is the file name - change
that name to the one you want - then go to
machine defintion - control edefintion - files - and set the new name to the default
-
Pocket facing should work - make sure the
lead in lead outs on the pin finishes are not
destroyiny the pins
-
Select pocket and geometry again and on the remachine page select roughing tool diameter
and put in the 1/2 cutter Mcam will calculate
the area where the 1/2 cutter could not go
-
Use the pocketing toolpath and select facing
instead of standard pocketing this allows the tool to go past the outer boundry but
cuts the islands to size set your lead in lead out as you want
-
I usually have good luck using Erics method
-
Thanks for this
Now buffers are a little clearer

If you use cut depths incremental a negative
amount will add cuts to the top of the part
