  1. There is a deselect in the chaining menu. Red circle with a line thru it.
  2. You say you are trying to creat a cradle. Is this going to be a support nest of some kind? Dose it need any particular face pointing up?
  3. Creat 2 different toolpath groups under the same machine group.
  4. I think they all need to be in the same machine group to be posted as one program.
  5. How big is the file? Can you E:mail it to me, or put on the FTP site?
  6. A quick way to get some geometry to start with is creat bounding box. This probably will not sit correctly. You will need to rotate this to get desired result.
  7. Go to planes. You have a number of options either use =Gview or pick geometry. If you use the geometry option you will need some form of geometry to pick. either curves, points or a flat surface. all of your options are under the planes menu at the bottom of your screen. When creating a plane with curves, pick the X-axis first, then the Y-axis. You will be given a number of axis combinations to chose from. When useing points pick the center, then the X point, then the Y point. THis is the option that I use the most, it useally gives the correct orientation first try.
  8. The plane just needs to be flat, (mold pull direction) The creat part line curve will creat curves on the surface normal to this plane. Deciding mold pull is sometimes just gusetimating what would work good. If you rotate your part to a position that you like you can use creat plane equals Gview. Then go ahead and creat part line curves to see if this will work for you. If you want some sugestions you can put your file on the FTP site and I will take a look at it.
  9. You will need to cut the surfaces after you creat the curves. I usually use trim surface to curves. This has a feature that allows you to keep both halfs of the surface being cut. This feature dose not always work for me, when it dose not work on a particular surface I just copy that surface and trim it twice.
  10. You will need to creat Your mold plane first. (construction plane) Then just use creat part line curve.
  11. Will it be a planer cut, or are you trying to creat a mold parting line? Also what version of MC are you useing?
  12. René Descartes 1596 - 1650 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- René Descartes was a French philosopher whose work, La géométrie, includes his application of algebra to geometry from which we now have Cartesian geometry. His work had a great influence on both mathematicians and philosophers.
  13. The Cartesian coordinate system was developed by the mathematician Descartes during an illness. As he lay in bed sick, he saw a fly buzzing around on the ceiling, which was made of square tiles. As he watched he realized that he could describe the position of the fly by the ceiling tile he was on. After this experience he developed the coordinate plane to make it easier to describe the position of objects.
  14. It usually crashes during save for me. And yes I do lose everything. Saveing the file under 2 different names every time I save it. If it crashes on 1, I can go back and open the other. Only happens on some files. Sometimes have to retreive file from backup server.
  15. The file I just got off the FTP site did not have any toolpaths with it, so I am not sure what is correct and what is wrong. Looking at your file, all of your OAL planes have the same origin, although the left side plane might have an incorrect normal. As for the other 2 planes, any toolpaths made with them will not be compatable with the OAL plane toolpaths, they do not have the same origin.
  16. I think you are not setting the origin correctly. You have to set the same origin for every plane that machines the part in that setup. PS: MasterCam dose not do this automaticly. You have to do this.
  17. In MR2 there is a new feature under configurations that controle naming files. At the bottom of the configurations screen there is a toolpath manager. Open this and configure to your requirements.
  18. Rotating in MC is construction plane dependent. You can rotate CW or CCW in construction plane only. Go to the view you want to rotate about and set construction plane equals G view, then give rotate a try.
  19. I use this feature all the time. I liked it better in MR1 then MR2, but I am manageing with the changes. Standard procedure here is that for milling every tool gets a seperate program. Hence we name programs according to the tool used, same tool same name. It makes posting very easy, you just select all operations and post. Makes seperate files according to names. This is great you don't have to worry about selecting all of the programs with a certian tool when posting you just name them all the same. I do have a couple of questions though. 1) Can the nameing routine above be set up for different machines? When drilling all tools are in the same program. I have seperate machine definitions and posts for milling and drilling, and I would want all program names to be the same. 2) When useing the nameing routine above I an getting this result. 1ST prg = SCRIBE 1 2ND prg = SCRIBE 2 and so on. our programs cannot have spaces in them. Is there any way to get rid of the spaces without editing each program name?
  20. For a 6mmx1 tap, 1/25.4 x RPM = feed For any metric tap the second number is your pitch not the number of threads per inch, although this pitch is metric. Just convert to english and multiply by your RPM. Also to make your tap look OK in verify divide your diameter by 25.4 on your toolpath parimeters page.
  21. It's definitly getting brain damage. I have each part on a seperate level, and only one level active at a time. Do you think maybe too many WCS's in one file? I need 2 for each part.
  22. Is there a way to align my axis doing it this way?
  23. This just started happening today. When I select the geometry to make a new WCS I get this error message and MasterCam crashes. "Failed to load resources from resource file please check your setup" This dose not happen every time I make a new WCS just about every second or third time. I have 12 different parts in this file and I am machining each part in it's tooling position. That is standard procedure here, when changes occure, and they always do, we just read in the new part right on top of the original. Dose anyone have any ideas? I also had a new hard drive installed last Friday, but I did not have any problems until today.
