  1. Thanks for the quick responses! I am going to do both Zip2Go and folder backups as suggested and will talk to IT about cloning my drive before it dies. Thanks for the help.
  2. I've been informed by IT Department that my hard drive is failing. New drive being ordered as I type. How can I best prepare for reinstalling Mastercam? Thanks.
  3. Tyler, Don't you get the router post standard with all the generic posts? I only have a mill seat but was able to get the router post to work as an exercise just playing around with right angle head and various machine definitions....what am I missing.
  4. It's a combination of step direction and start direction parameters under flowline data. Play with them until you get what you want.
  5. Under Analyse choose dynamic, then pick the face you want know the angle of. Angle will be relative to construction plane..
  6. Had the same problem when we upgraded our computers. Contact reseller to get a usb hasp.
  7. That seems to be the new way event logs are handled. I don't even get 1 file saved because I don't have an event log folder in X6. The tech at CNC thinks my install might be messed up and that the data path is incorrect. At least I can get them from from my X5 event log folder but they may be specific to my slightly screwed up install.
  8. Where is the appdata folder located?
  9. Just got off phone with CNC Tech. His install is behaving just like left coast lefty. Folder exists but only stores some event logs.... I told him I would like it back the old way. He says he will e-mail me when/if he comes up with anything on why only certain logs are saved...
  10. I asked about this once before and got nothing. Asked my reseller - also nothing. The workaround seems to be to leave X5 installed. It creates multiple event files for the same day but you can tell by the timestamp which ones are complete. I would like to uninstall X5 and not have to run both versions at the same time just to get the event files....
  11. Not much help from me because I have the same question.... I use my event files to fill out my time sheets. I too am using X6 MU2 Win 7. I still have X5 loaded and have found that if I open X5, leave it open, and then open X6 my event logs end up in the "mymcam5\event log" folder. I added the event log folder to "mymcam6" which the install did not create and it never populates. The X6 event log is open and active while X6 is open and can be found as a temp file while X6 is open but it never gets saved to the proper folder when X6 gets closed. Anybody got a clue on this?
  12. The single pixels you are seeing are probably arc centers.
  13. Slightly off topic but my install off X6 MU1 is not logging properly. If I have X5 already open the event logs in the X5 folder will log X6 events while they are both open. When I have X6 open exclusively I get one event file in my AppData\Local\Temp directory that gets overwritten when I re-open X6. No logs ever appear in my X6 event logs folder. Anyone else seeing this?
  14. Thanks for the help folks... I was hoping to be able to use more than 2 or 3 points. I'm trying to compare some CMM data to geometry and I need best fit for 12-14 points.
  15. Is there a way to create a best fit circle from points in X4?
  16. I did something similar years ago. We used a woodruff style thread tool and cnc milled them in a fixture that was purpose built to hold the shaft and index as needed. We used gages supplied by the customer. You could have a gage wire edm'd once you have the specs.
  17. Sorry. Just noticed your signature says X2.... Can't remember if X2 had the "Move to Origin" function. If not you can still create a point at the desired center and translate all entities to the origin.
  18. Create point where you want the center to be. Under Xform menu use "Move to origin". Follow prompts on screen. Make sure you are in "3D" if all axes need to move or else only X and Y will move. HTH
  19. We are trying to get a handle on hard milling here. We’ve got Roku-Roku VMC with a Fanuc 16i-MB control and I think the look ahead is slowing my feed rates too much and causing early tool wear, particularly on roughing tool paths with trochoidal motion. I’ve tried the “High Speed” (M161) setting on the control and that seemed better but the acceleration/deceleration was definitely more abrupt. Is this setting appropriate for what I’m doing or does it make sense to adjust programmed feeds and speeds to match the observed feed rates you see while actually cutting and leave the look ahead settings alone? Am I way off here? I need a brain check. Thanks Vince
  20. "...or just hit the "C" key to toggle back and forth between centered and not centered." ...This works for me while still actively creating the dimension and if you go back into dimensioning and click on an existing dimension. (I'm still using X2MR1. Not sure if X2MR2 and X3 are different.) When I hit "N" it brings up the "Number of Digits" box. Am I missing something? Has this been changed since X2MR1? confused in Orchard Park....
  21. ...or just hit the "C" key to toggle back and forth between centered and not centered.
  22. Do you have Auto Highlighting turned on? Try toggling it off under the screen menu.
  23. Thad, I did a quick test solid rectangle then completly cut through it with another rectangle which would have resulted in two distinct solids and got the "disjoint" error. But I think I have gotten both errors from that in the past. Again I guess it's a similar case of the same problem if that makes any sense...I was attempting a boolean common operation when I got the non-manifold error this time. Jim, Thank you for the definition. Since I'm almost entirely self taught on Master Cam there are probably some large holes in my personal knowledge base. I had never come across that tid-bit. Is there a list of error descriptions or definitions somewhere? I've never found one in the manuals or online help. Might be a good addition to future versions or maybe a data base on the web page? Thanks for the help guys. Vince
  24. The error you describe results in a disjoint body. It's a different error. That one is second nature to me by now. Is it a different case of the same problem? It only seems to happen when performing boolean operations. Of course a cut through a solid is a boolean operation but it is different somehow....
  25. Just like the topic says....And what makes a solid non-manifold, or manifold for that matter? How do you need to change the geometry to fix this error? Thanks for any help you can give. Vince
