I have a 90 deg. aggregate head on a horizontal machine pointing down at the table. I did load the 4 outlet head to the tool spindle in the mach def.  set to 270./90 I'm using top front front cutting a key on the back side of a shaft, fixture restricks using the back side.

cant seem to get correct code, mpmaster hrz

I would recommend setting up the Generic Fanuc 5X Mill Post to drive this. The reason: you can configure the machine for 4X or 5X Horizontal, and it will support "RAH on the Secondary". (It supports this in the post, by rotating the Secondary Axis Vector by 90 degrees).

You enable the RAH by setting MI2$ to +-90.

In addition, you use MI10$ for the "Gauge Length" of the RAH Tool [Offset Length along the machine's Z-Axis], and you use "Overall Tool Length" for the offset from the Spindle Centerline, to the Tool Tip. [X or Y offset distance].

So really, it is controlled by 3 settings:

  • MI2$ = (+90) or (-90)
  • MI10$ = (+TLO <along Z-Axis>)
  • OAL = (+Y Offset), (-Y Offset) or (+X Offset), (-X Offset)

The "direction" (+Y, -Y, +X, -X) that the OAL distance is applied, is controlled by 2 things:

  1. The orientation (rotation axis) of the Secondary Axis [ A or B, typically = X or Y]
  2. The +- value of MI2$. (Change the sign of the '90' value, and you flip the offset direction of the RAH (from - to +, or + to -)
