Windows XP and M9

I was wondering if anyone knows of any patches to fix this problem that I am having with MC9. I am running Windows XP and since I have installed it I have had nothing but problems with Mastercam - we have changed the graphics from an ATI but the problem is still happening. When I leave the computer for a few minutes it freezes up and I have to reboot - thereby loosing all my information. Has anyone got any solutions to this problem?

i tell everyone i know that windows XP will work but has alot of problems. i use windows 2k and bought that after i bought windows xp. even if you fix the crashing problem you will still have graphics problems

Try changing your system settings to run on "best performance" instead of using the standard WinXP settings. Change your graphics performance down a couple of notches. Do not run too many things concurrent with MC. "Boost" your data and tool allocations in the config screen of MC.

I have never had any problems with XP and MC9, although I have noticed problems with graphics. What Graphics Card do you have? The Nvidia cards seem to work the best at full acceleration. If you slow it down, which I need to do for another CAD program that I run MC doesn't like it.

I have 2 XP machines with Quadro video cards,

If I leave a shaded solid on the screen Mastercam

will lock up.

I did an experiment. I opened the task manager

and went to the performace page. I opened

mastercam with shaded solid. The PF usage bar chart slowly climbs. If I hit Alt S (shading off)

PF Usage stops climbing. Shading ON, it goes up,

shading off it stops.

If you leave shading on, PF Usage goes up to

2 gig and the machine locks up.

I've got no clue how to fix it.

Both machines are Dell workstations running XP

and Quadro FX cards with current drivers

and 2 gig of ram

Craig: I'am using nvidia video card.I had the acceleration turned all the way down,I turned it up and will try that.

Is it the Indexing Service?

 

My dealer suggested that I disable the indexing service. It really helped in my case.

 

Mastercam seems to run a little better on 2000pro than XPpro for me..
