MC 9.1 MR0304 REST MILL

I have had some trouble with my rest mill ever sence I loaded MR0304. When I backplot the cutterpath it will be working it's way down into a small area. THEN it will jump all the way to the bottom of the pocket and do a couple paths then jumps back up and works the rest of the way down in the small area. NOT very good in steel

 

Has anyone else have this problem?

I had problems with mr0304 as well. There is a patch you can download from this site which should help you. You'll need to find it on your own as i can't remember the link. sorry

How many people are using rest mill????

 

I would think this would be a big Issue???

I think the only patch for MR304 is the one that fixes bugs when you use XR/YR/ZR variables in your posts. It's nothing to do with machining operations.

I have had to back plot, write down the

Stabs then remove them/Edit the code.

I don't use it much.

 

What I do use is surface Parallel finish

and a small box boundary and a small step over.

The cutter will go back and forth kissing the wall all along it.

 

It Works.

We have experienced the same problems since we installed MR0304. Restmill used to be very reliable before, but now it skips all over the place, stabs randomly, and tries to cut where material is already removed. We never had a tool breakage problem. Now we have to go over toolpath carefully to avoid breakage.

Finally, someone else that feels my pain.. I sent the file into Mastercam but I have not heard anything back yet???? I hope they will fix this soon. Because it is a great tool and now I feel handicapped without it.

 

It almost feels like restmill is a taboo subject. I had problems with it at one time and gave up on it. Someone came along a showed me the way it "really" works and now it is a great tool.

Be nice and stay on em, they should address this or at least write up a bug report. Try to get a bug number on it so that you can make periodic inquiries.

I will be contacting them today to see about a bug # I just wanted to throw it out on the forum to make sure that I am not crazy.

 

I searched the forum and I am surprised on how little restmill seems to be used. I may be wrong?? Like I said, there was a time that I didnt use it because some things did not make sence to me.

we use it all the time. I have had this problem a few time. I have a part that went to the bottom, no steps. Same setup in sp2 stepped down.

I sent both to QC and got a bug#.

Keep on them. If you have sp2 try it with it.

I use restmill every day and haven't run into this yet, but will keep an eye open. Using MR0304 with the patch.
