O/T Fadal Machines

Has anyone ever had any problems with Servo Amplifier faults on Fadal VMC's. Every week or so our Fadal goes down with either a Y-axis fault or a motor spindle error. The Technician comes in messes around byt switching it on and off and within a few hours its up again for another week or so. Anyone had similar problems?

have you checked your thermal overloads on motors also check comm cables from encoders also you can megger motor from right after contactor this will check motor and cable, you should also open machine when it faults out to read drive error

How old is your machine ?

those faults seem to pop up on our Fadals as the carbon from the servo motor brushes builds up in the mtr/encoder

our tech removes the brushes and uses a vacume to suck out the dust/clean the encoder and were good to go

We get those on occasion also. It's not anything that a cold start or power down & up won't fix.

Shut'er down, open the back doors use a dry airline blow everything out especially encoder fire'r back up and leter rip.

I agree with Cg. We sometimes get the table shuttering back and forth if we don't get in there and clean out the carbon.
