Parting Off M-2

Looking for some recommendations for parting 2 inch diameter M-2. We are currently using a Sandvik insertable partoff tool that is .125 wide in their grade 4025. The speed is 225 and feed is .003/rev. The problem is we are only getting about 10 parts per insert and have about 450 parts to make. I'm open to all recomendations. Thanks in advance.

I would peck and use a slower feedrate. Are you in CSS or RPM mode? You may wish to use CSS until you get to about .75 dia, then switch to RPM mode. If you stay in CSS mode, your RPM gets so high that coolant is deflected by the bar and not reaching the tool tip.

Try positive, neutral and negative inserts,

4025 is a good grade, so that is not the issue. Make sure the blade is slightly below center
