Circle bore from center?

I have come familiar with Fadals embeded subroutines that allow me to do tasks easily like bore out holes from center pilot hole. I was wondering how i can program this task easily in master cam and still use cutter compensation also. Seems like everything i have tried has lead to plunging in off center of pilot hole.

In Pocket, I chain a center point and turn off Entry Stuff (helix ramp, etc...)

 

In contour, in the lead in/out (Entry/Exit) I take the radius of the hole, subtract the radius of the tool and that's my lead in line value. I use perpendicular entry usually and set the over lap.

 

That's two ways to skin the cat.

Use circlemill, (Toolpaths,Next menu,circle paths,circlemill) just make sure the Exit/Entry arc sweep is less than 180 (I set mine at 120 most of the time) so comp will work correctly.

You can set this type of stuff up in your defaults also.

If your machine is capable you could skip going back to the center alltogether, and ramp your way down. Much more efficient IMO.

If you use circlemill toolpath, don't forget the checkbox in circmill parameters to start at center.

an okuma mill seems to want that perpendicular entry. 90' in 90' out. having said that I still

do it the way James says and sometimes helix.

In contour select a point center of your pilot hole, select your contour geometry, then in the lead in/out parameter page check the use entry point box. You can still use entry lines and arcs if you want. This works really sweet.

 

If you do a remachine on the contour be sure and disable the use entry point box. Mastercam will shut down right now if you forget to do that.

I use contour, the center for entry and exit point and just a .02 or .03 rad for lead in/out. I dont give it a line length so it puts it in automatic.

I also use the L94 canned cycle. I have made it into the pdrill routine so I can use the point selection methods for drilling.
