AutoDesk Inventor translator

One of our guys uses Autodesk Inventor for his cad work.

We purchased Autodesk Version 9 (for him) at the time,and now they just came out with version or release 10.

 

So now the 'Design Tracker' download does not recognize any of his V10 autodesk files when converting in Mastercam.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a solution?

The only method I can think of is to have him save the file as ACIS (sat)

Chek the Inventor 10 install CD and see if Inventor View is there (I believe it should be) and install it on the Mastercam PC. Otherwise, check with your dealer as they should have access to it. I've sent it to several of our customers on CD as it is a large download.

Autodesk is a good one for not being able to write backward compatible files. I'm sure the Mastercam update for Inventor 10 is not going to be far behind. But it's always best to hold off a little on yout Cad update until you know the Cam update is there to take it in.

We called autodesk for help on translator for mastercam and they said that mastercam needs to create the updated version for autodesk 10.

A couple weeks ago I pointed your buddy Greg toward the Inventor R10 files which you can get via the Extranet downloads page (https://www.mastercamextranet.com/CNCExtranet/Technical/qc/Downloads/default.aspx). Look under

“Current Updates” for “DesignTracker10.zip”. He told me that it worked fine.

Note that Catia V5 R14 support is up there too

 

I'm still pestering QC to put them up on the website for everyone (and to notify people about them)
