Selecting drive surfaces in MCX

I am just now starting to use MCX. I imported a parasolid file and am trying to make toolpaths. The problem is that I am unable to pick drive surfaces. I don't what I'm missing, I've done it MC9 hundreds of times. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

Two things that I can think of.

 

Make sure Single is selected as your selection mode, or hit the icon that looks like your cursor (copyright Storkman).

 

If you're clicking the surface and it highlights, but when the dialog box pops back up and it says 0 surfaces selected, then you've experienced the same bug that I have.

I’ve had these problems too. I use surfaces for tool paths and have had similar problems in X. The Surface doesn’t always-high light as in 9, even if the single box is checked and I get what looks like duplicate surfaces when trying to select a surface. This and a list of other bugs/learning curve too numerous to list… I’ve gone back to 9 until they get some of these worked out. But I’ll keep checking X, maybe on smaller jobs.

OK while we are selecting drive surfaces.

 

When selecting drive surfaces using a window, most of the time my window does not start at the point I click on the screen. It will jusp up to the far left somewhere. I have to escape out several times for the window to size correctly in the right location.

 

Any thoughts on this ? BTW it only happens when I am in drive surface selection mode.

 

Preselection works as it should.....I also have to set the window selection twice because it cycles between single and window

Keep a piece of cheese on the lower side of the screen, maybe the mouse will stay down there.

I’ve had that happen too. It doesn’t always start there and as yet I haven’t been able to figure out why. I thought at one time that I was zoomed in to far and that did it, but not sure.

EDIT messed with all of them and it makes no diffrence

I have trouble when I pick a solid and then click show, everything goes away. If I use surfs they show fine.

I've had the funny window thing happen too. I thought it was just me.

It is not random occurance. it happens every time on the file. I must load another file and see if it is just on that one file.

 

I am re-choosing drive surfaces on a dirty op when this happens....

 

I will do further testing.

 

 

Further testing yealds a slightly diffrent scenerio.

 

On a new op the window jumps up to start from the top right corner of the screen instead of the top left for a dirty op.

 

I can make this happen on any file using surfaces for drive surfs....

Send it in to CNC Software. I just heard back today on a couple of my issues.

Matt showed a picture of how to choose solids. Click on the little blue/green cube.

 

When you choose solids, more choices will appear.

You can choose the whole solid or just some of the faces.

I understand that. THe problem I have is that after I choose the object and hit enter it doesn't acknowledge having picked anything. It says zero drive surfaces.

Dumb question. Are you picking surfaces or solid faces?
