Insufficient Memory on HAAS

Does any one know if there is a way to increase or add memory to a HAAS VF-4 Milling center. The machine I am running has only roughly 71KB of memory, the program that I have is 167KB and will not fit. I can transfer only 61% of the program before I get an insufficient memory error. How can I get around this???? Any ideas??

What year is your Haas?

How many pgms in memory?

Your VF-4 should have 512 or 1 meg.(if its 1998 or later)

Haas is the only one that can add memory. THey have to swap boards.

My HAAS is a 1994, and there are no programs in the memory, so I guess I am going to have to call HAAS then. Thanks guys.

What are you using to send your program into the Haas?

 

Can it be setup to drip feed it into the machine instead of just dumping the program into memory?

If its a one time job, you might consider splitting the program into 3 parts.

I agree with jmparis considering Mastrcam also comes with CimcoEdit which has a built in dnc function that should cove any issue on size for nothing more then the cost of a cable and the downtime setting the parameters

Memory from Haas is really expensive - about $1000.00. We bought a DNC program for $300.00 and ran it from a laptop.

So if your using mcx editor to send the files, it must be rs-232'd to the machine? Just DNC the program. There might be some other control settings, but first try hitting mdi/dnc button twice (you'll get the waiting prompt) and then post from your computer. File should send and reside in your control buffer mem. for a 1 time use.

have you checked with Haaaas to see if the hard drive and USB option will work with your musheen?

Tim the mastercam editors have DNC programs built in no need to spend on new software

I bought it before we had mastercam. Even after, I would probably get it. Wouldn't you still have to use the HASP in order to get the editor to work on the computer you are using for DNC?
