create curves

After installing MR1, when I try to create curve on a surface, it create it only as spline,

It doesn’t give lines or arcs at all!!!

Is there setting for this thing???

If the edge is 3D then you'll get a spline.

 

I haven't tried creating edge curves since installing MR1.

I have noticed the surface curves option but haven't tried it yet...

 

That's why I hesitated to reply to this post earlier since I wasn't sure what Salahuddin was getting at...

The differance is "Create curve edge" select a solid or a surface edge.

 

As Thad said if it's flat more likely you'll get arcs and lines if its 3D you'll get a spline.

Its 2D, to try it I create a rectangular and create flat surface from it, delete the rectangle chain, and create curve on that surface,

before MR1 I got line on that surface, now , I got only spline,

I tried another thing, if I create solid from the surface and create curve on the solid I got lines and arcs as it should.

Something wrong here!!!!

so, did any one tryed to creat and edge curve on a 2D suface without getting splines?

This has been logged as a bug. We will target it for the next release.

Try Create Curve/All edges/select surface then in the ribor bar turn on [e] create curves form open edges
