imho, the video's don't really tell you how to do anything, just what you can do.

Are you talking about the retracts and "minimum verticle retract"?

I've had gouges also related to the retract plane, and part clearance. Make sure it's set high enough; it's easy to forget and leave it at default. Also set "part clearance" to a value greater that what your stock to leave is.

From the paths that I have crunched, all moves at the highest planes are at 90 degrees.

On the video, the entry and exit moves appear to arc in and out at the highest z level. But I can't get it to do that.

Look at this: noarc.jpg

I still get 90 degree moves with no arcin or out confused.gif

Did you look in the Documentation folder in your McamX directory. There are several documents in there. I believe one of them explains the new toolpaths. I'm not at my pc or I could give you a file name, but I think they're pretty self descriptive.

it is called c:mcamxdocumentationMcamXMR1.pdf

"You only get the curl up and curl down when you use the minimum distance retract motion"

think your wrong cause I jusr did that and iot worked for me no problem with full retracts. I have tried this murlin and it seems to be workin here.

LEADS

linear exit entry .025

vertical arc entry .250

vericcal arc exit .250

seems to work even if i change the rad sizes up and down.

Just try to help
