These are vector math functions that I didn't do so well on. Dot products basically give you the midpoint between two vectors. Cross products are a bit tougher to explain, with two vectors defined the cross product will give you coordinates for a third vector that is perpendicular to the plane of the first two vectors (I think??). Someone else can give a much better explanation than I.

One other thing, congradulations to Dave to actually be able to apply them in a real world situation!!!!

Just put in a directory you want it to go. V9 will put the file in what folder you have without any problem by doulbe clicking on the file. They are called .vec files and can read by any text editor. I like Cimco but any will work just fine for viewing the files.

Thanks for sharing that is very instrering stuff I like see old school math reminds of my Calculus days.

Is there anyway to get a copy of the VLIB.PST they talk about?????

Nevermind, I just double clicked on the file and Mastercam took care of the rest. It must be imbedded in the Mastercam exe or somewhere else invisible to the untrained eye. biggrin.gif

Originally I thought we'd mount a 90deg head along X+, X-, Y+, or Y-.

Bruce decided to slap a theoretical manual rotary/tilt angled head on a tilt/tilt 5-Axis machine. The vector math stuff was used to analyze the angles between the final 'as-mounted' aggregate position, and the desired tool vector to set the machine rotary angles. It's been far too long since I've dealt with that stuff, so it gave me a brain owey.

MP really is kickass. Thanks CNC.

I'm either drinking a case of Fosters or a case of Peter Lehmann Shiraz this weekend to get this one out of my head. Whatever it takes...
