Turn Off Tips

Settings -> Configuration -> Screen. uncheck show tool tips, and be sure to hit APPLY (blue with white plus sign, that will do it.)

You may have hit the green check instead of the apply button.

EDIT: What you have showing in your first post is not a tool tip, I don't know if that can be turned off or not.

Those are prompts. It replaces the old prompt area at the bottom of the screen in V9. Unless you know ALL the steps to perform EVERY function in MC, I don't see why you'd want to turn them off. Besides, I don't know if you can. You kinda need them.

Try a search. I know this has been asked before.

Thanks to all,

The reason I wanted them off is that they don't always seem to stay out of the way, they keep coming back to their default location which gets in the way. They are nice to have when learning a funtion, its true, but once you know the prompts for the functions you use everyday, they are redundant and annoyingly in the way.

FYI,

The prompt window problem has been logged as bug cnc00020015.

While working with QC on this we found that the software was written so that each time the prompt window is updated it checks to see whether its window is outside or overlapping the Mastercam window. If it is, it moves back to its default position. I was moving my prompt window to an open area to the right of my toolbars. The Smart Dimension prompt window is large and continuously changes in size and length as you create dimensions. It would stay there until I used a function that made it longer and move off the screen. As long as you know what is happening, you can just move your prompt window more towards the center of the screen.
