Back plot warning!

I'm geting this warning in backplot. I've never seen it before.

Change the stepover slightly and regenerate. That usually works for me Sometimes it takes a couple of tries to stop the invalid arc

Will it create a gouge in the NC code?

I get this alot when doing engraving of small letters or logos. (2D pocket, remachine, tapered walls is the biggest culprit) I usually change the stepovers, tolerence. Sometimes I replace splines with lines and arc.

 

I dont know if it will gouge, didnt want to take a chance. I was going to submit these logo's to MC's QC dept, but I'm not allowed to submit our customers files.

 

I would rarely get this warning in V9, but I get it quite frequently in X.

I'm getting it on 2D chamfer so there is no step over.

It seems like it's from curves created from solids. When I create the same curves from surface which where created from the solid model there's no warning.

It is a strange one.

Is the arc move in question from the "Roll cutter around corners"? Or is it an actual arc in the geometry?

 

If it is an arc in the geometry you may want to analyze that arc and see if there is anything funky like a 720 start angle and a 810 end angle. If you find that re-create the arc.

Usually due to compensation of the tool. If you had a .25 rad in the corner of the pocket and you used a 1/2" end mill. The radius is the same. So now it cant generate an arc. But in V9 or X it shouldn't do that any more. I thought it was fixed.

I get this warning on a sample file in Mastercam.

Can someone try opening from the sample mill files HIGHSPEED-CLEAN CORNER-MM and let me know if you get this backplot warning.

I think solid chains in X is a bit biggy. I have had 2 problems that couldn't be fixed without using wireframe. Which reminds me that I never did get around to sending them to QC!!

give it a perp lead in/out. usually makes the warning go away

I sent it in on 3/9 and CNC logged it as a bug.

I pitched that email or I would post what the guy said why its doing that.

I used to get invalid arc errors in backplot. i made the tolerances slightly looser in config. the invalid arc never caused me a bad part if i just ignored it though.
