Posting uneccessary positions

Hello everybody. Can anyone tell me how to stop contour cuts from posting unecessary moves which are being generated from line breaks in the geometry? Most of the time it is only an annoyance, but on some machines the extra points cause the machine to hiccup while cutting a straight line at high feedrate.

I'm running MX MR1 but this is not a new problem. It has occured in previous Mastercam versions as well.

Filtering your toolpaths should remove the unnecessary moves.

If its not possible to join all of your geometry segments to make one continuous chain for the tool to follow, You can use the toolpath editor to edit retracts and stuff out of the toolpath...

I set the tolerance in the filter settings to 2.0 in contour and got the same result. In this instance the cut is a short line but I'm still getting four "x" moves in a row.

Is there another setting I should be making?

I thought the toolpath editor was removed in MCX. It does not open by right clicking on toolpath as it did in MC9. How do I get there?

You can clean your geometry in ver 9 using command Join

The filter WILL join colinear moves. I'm not even sure if youcan or how to make it not remove the colinear moves?

 

There is also a post variable dirchg$ or dirchng$ cannot remember how it is spelled that checks to see if the direction has changed from the previous move. If it hasn't you can update the axis variables for no output.

Yeah Kyle, I'm confused on that statement too. Although, Jesus did seem to be abit against the organized religions of his day, due to many things including idol worship, but that list is way too long for even this forum. I guess if you look at it another way, he challenged the church(es) of his time to be a little more forward thinking. However, even that is making light of his teachings.
