4th axis help please

Could one of you nice gents tell me how to reverse my retract motion on a 4th axis sub.

 

What I am trying to do is to machine on the inside of a diameter. I had this figured out a couple months ago and did it just by reversing the surface normal, but I was using a 5-axis toolpath.

 

But I wanted to use a simple contour instead of the 5 axis paths. Is there any way to get the retracts reversed on contour?

I tried negative numbers and the retract would not go past the rotary diamater.

I'm new to this forum, but I've been struggling with the same issue. I'm trying to program some engraving on the inside of cylinder using a right angle head. I have to use a postive z for the depth, and after it's posted, change all z+ to z-.

It can be a real pain, making sure there is no crashes.

 

Please post the solution if come up with one.

Murlin,

Create the geometry at negative 2*radius. For instance, if the diameter of the cylinder is 2, create the geometry at -2. Make all retracts incremental, and the depth 0 inc.

Thanks John, I will try that.....kinda makes when ya think about it. Contour doesn't have a surface for rerence, Only thing is zero.... I just never thought about it that way.....woot!

You may have to use CCW instead of CW in ROTARY AXIS. This mirrors the toolpath.
