cutter comp

Well there are a couple ways to apporach this. If you want to use cutter comp on the control then you will want to select the 1st move above the cut and the last move above the cut in the entry/exit options on the lead in/lead out. Now if you use wear you then have a cutter that can be .0002 in dia to the control and only need .0001 to turn on the cutter comp. Now the thing to remember about using wear is that you need to have your comp move or lead in/out amount greater than what you would put in the control to adjust the cutter but still small enough to fit into the are you are cutting with the tool.

BTW welcome to the forum.

Select a point "your entry loaction" in the keyway then do a chain. The chain start point needs to be perpendicular to the entry point.

Break it if it is not. In the "Leadin/out" parameters page put a 0 in all the feilds. You then need to besure that 4 things are checked. Entry, Exit, Use entry Point and Use exit point.

Using this method you can put a tool down in a hole or slot and turn comp on with only .0001 clearance.

Ocasionaly you may prefer to arc in a little. Do the above but then add value slightly bigger then the tool radius to the Arc Radius feild in the leadin/out parameters page. This would depend on wheter your using Control comp or Wear comp.
