just starting using X today. so far so good i guess the only problem i have is i am hitting keys on the keyboard and nothing happens. i miss my hot keys. confused.gif there is alot of new things to learn in x and there are some kewl new toolpaths also cant wait to start using the 5 axis stuff.they have moved alot of things around and that makes it some hard to program but just keep clicking and i find them sooner or later. cheers.gif

as far as the functions go there is the Xtov9 pdf in your documentation folder, it'll show where the functions in X are that were in V9

IMO, lose the hot keys but if you feel you want them go to the autocursor and enable power keys

everything in x takes longer to do than it did in 9

How long have you been using X, Kevin?

I thought there were more keystrokes/mouse clicks when I started using X. Now I don't think there is (illusion?)...just because I'm used to them and I can do them faster.

like I said, its just my opinion.......and we all know about opinions and how they smell.....lol

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It depened on how you work
If you are old-timer like me who preferes command line and keystokes and works like play Unreal tournament (right-hand on mouse ,left on keyboard )
it looks like you are right .
But this is a main trend ,new generation are mouseclickers
i seen the key mapping but just not the same. i am getting use to the format just going to take sometime. i still find myself ©(l)(e) and there is no line or ©® and no retangle. but i do like the fact that you have more ways to make boxs larger and circle these are all nice things that they added. hopefully in the next few years or so i will have it down (lol). the only down fall is that i work for a protype model shop and things have to go now or like lately yesterday. so this makes learning just that much more fun.
click a mouse?....hit a key?
I thought X was supposed to read my mind?...here i have been trying to find the right interface to plug into me head ...that way i could have a nap and work at the same time ....and now you tell me i have to use my hands and eyes?
just joking ...keep at it wildpair it gets so much easier as you get more familiar with it ...dont be afraid to ask the gurus in here wink.gif
I don't think it's the hot keys that people miss so much. I think its the underlined letters in the side menu. Like someone said before, I was kind of used Mastercam like Unreal Tournament. I would use a combo of key strokes and mouse clicks to get my results. Mostly my keystrokes were anything I could naturally reach with the left hand like ©reate-®ectangle-(1)Point. All the letters on the other side of the keyboard I would just click like ©reate-*click*line-(E)ndpoints. Unfortunately key mapping in X only lets you map F-keys by themselves. Everything else requires and additional Alt-stroke (correct me if I'm wrong). The great thing also about 9's menu was if you picked the wrong option, you could always back up without getting out of your current Toolpath or Creat mode. X you just have to star over. I'm hoping I'll get used to X though, since it's supposed to be here tomorrow! Man I sure ramble a lot...
