Mazak post

The company I work for is buying a Mazak slant turn 50 lathe, nothing fancy just two axis turning. my question is do I need a special post or will the Mazak read the standard fanuc based G-code? I will be using MCX.

You'll want to modify the standard post slightly.

 

G28 needs to become G30.

 

You'll also want to have the machine setup to use T32 mode.

you need to check and see if you have the eia iso option otherwise I think it will only use mazatrol

I know it has the eia/iso option. Does that mean I should be OK? Do they make a MPMaster post for lathes? I use it on our mills without any problems at all. My MC dealer is out of town all week.

just be sure to correctly "to the tee" describe any 55' of 35' tools or it'll do a weird little jig for you.

Mayday, That is what the Mazak rep said. Just didn't know if I should beleave him or not.

True for about 80% of all turning jobs.

 

Mazatrol really shines for turning.

Tailstock work, Part transfers and secondary spindle work are always easier via Mazatrol.

It's especially powerful for live tooling operations.

 

The Multiplex and Integrex Machines are just plain cool to work with.

mazatrol is faster then any cam package so is IGF on the okuma, but with that said some complex shapes are very hard to do with either but if you learn how to lie to it you can get things to work ok.

make sure you take advantage of your training time have tools loaded and ready to go so when the applications guy comes for training your not waisting your time looking for tools, collets, material.

I would have to agree with the Mazatrol being the faster way to program. It is really quick and simple.

For lathe work and quick program and setup, it really is hard to beat Mazatrol, and since the Fusion control has come on the scene with color graphics and solids they really are happening.

 

IF you ever use Mazatrol for at least 6 months, you will throw rocks at any other programming package. I could program a faily complicated part (angles into arcs into angles) and make it virtually 100% deburred right off the machine. rap .02 rad on every sharp corner and you get a part that has all the little things done to it that make it a really nice part with just a few extra key strokes.i LOVE MAZAK LATHES AND COULDN'T CARE LESS ABOUT THERE MILLS AS FAR AS PROGRAMMING GOES
