POST ERROR

I am getting an error during posting "only single axis rotation allowed, angles may be incorrect.iI am using mp 8.1.1 and programming for a horizontal mill. I draw and place my toolpaths on front view just as you would be looking at in the machine. Then I rotate to one of the sides to to make toolpaths. I think when I rotate to front then to side this causes the single axis rotation error.I have my post set for horizontal and the table rotates around y axis .I have tried x,y,z axis and off settings in post, none work.Is there a way to start in front view without mp looking at that as an axis rotation. Then rotating to sides and back of part would be a single axis rotation.

The only time I have gotten this error is when my rotation is compound (5axis)..

The first step is to isolate the operation. Now look at the tool from the side view to make sure it is not tipping in 2 axes. Dollars to donuts this is what's happening. I have made this mistake a few times myself. Let me know if this works.

Heavy Metal,

If all your post settings are correct, then your toolplane is incorrect. Make sure that the toolplane axes are in the correct orientation so that if you rotated the part into the front view the X,Y,Z of the new toolpane would match the front toolplanes XYZ orientation.

For example. If the post settings are set correctly for a horizontal mode, then the only valid rotation of a toolplane would be about the Z axis of the World Coordinate system. If the toolpane cause another axes of rotation, that is invalid!!

It's ALWAYS either the post settings or the operation. If you need help provide the MC8 and the post and we can check it out for you.

Heavy Metal,

Is Z axis or Y axis into the workpiece? We have a Makino A77 which is a Horizoltal machine but Z axis is into the workpiece. So as far as my post is concerned its a vertical machine with a B axis rotating about the Y axis. I do lots of 4 axis programming and so far no problems with my post (MPFAN from V8.1.1) I have had the error that you speak of, but it only comes if my toolplane is set about the wrong axis.
