In V9, is there a way to select a "window" and have it tell me how many entities there are inside this window?

I could, but there are over 30,000 entities and it takes a little time to do anything on my current computer

What about hide>window. Same result I would think.

I was going to suggest turning on "Pre-selection", window an area and hit the Screen Statistics button, but that doesnt work. You would think that it would...

don't forget, V9 doesn't have pre select anyway.

also, it is SCREEN statistics. My inderstanding is that whatever is on the screen gets counted.

I can think of a work around that may or may not do what you need because a window will only select entities that are completely inside the window. use change levels,copy, window. Then analyze the entities in the target level.

That's what I ended up doing, just moving them to different levels.

Like Eric suggested, 'Hide' (Alt-E) would have done it for you more easily.

Just Alt-E, window select what you want and hit 'Done'. You should be left with only the entiites in the window on the screen. Screen/Statistics will then tell you how many there are.

The hit Alt-E again, and your back to your previous display.
