New update to Solidworks just got here

SW 2008 is awesome, been running the beta but just got my new dvd too

At first glance, I was disappointed in SW08.

It looked like they had just added a bunch of eyecandy and moved things around a bit.

After using it a while, I think its thier best release yet.

They didn't add a lot of new stuff, they spent a lot of time improving the interface. It takes

a whole lot less mouse clicks and mouse motion

to get things done now.

It also takes a pretty stout computer. My old

3.2 P4 stuggled with SW08 so I replaced it.

I am happy with SW2008 on sp1, but i believe its way more of system hog than ever, I have some assemblies that would struggle in 07 will crash 08, and its a lil buggy yet. I am running dual core p4 2.4 with 2gig of ram and a nvidia quadro fx 1500.

We got our dvd's last week and loaded it. There are some cool new features they added the raster to vector which helps us quite a bit since we get a lot of hand drawings from people to custom parts. I agree that it is a system hog, we are running AMD Athlon 64 2.0 processors with 1 gig of RAM and it bogs down some with certain files. I need to try and get our IT guys to let us order some more RAM.
