  1. This was an awesome idea, I love the idea of it catching minor problems which can be a big problem at the machine. I implemented this into my post the only question I have is, I purposely messed up tool lengths and diameters to try it out and on one of my operations I have it set for depth cuts and it is giving the same warning for each depth. The operation is setup with 9 depths and I get the same error message 9 times. Do you know of something that may cause this. I am using a slightly modified mpfan post that came with X7.
  2. Thanks for the info Dave, I will give it a shot and let you know how it worked or if I messed it up and need further instruction.
  3. Does anyone know of a way to be able have the post take the highest value of a specific axis and store it into a parameter or something to be used for being entered into a safety block of a program. What we have to do for our CNC sander is when we post out a program we need to find the highest Y value and manually enter it into the first 3 lines of the program that was posted. I can show examples if this is not clear enough. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Unfortunately Mastercam X and beyond will not do reverse posting. There was a post a while back on this subject with some ideas as what to do. Linky
  5. Thanks Millman, I was looking for that yesterday but must have overlooked the Posts button on the top of the page. I am a Lathe newbie when it come to programming so wasn't sure what you guys were using, now I know. I have run quite a few Daewoo lathes at my friends machine shop but never did any programming for them. Racer according to the documentation for the machine it says the machine comes with the OiMate control and has the live tooling option. The guy that is buying the machine has actually been to the factory and ran off sample parts so I am guessing he knows what he was using, at least I hope he does.
  6. We are going to be purchasing a Prodigy GT27 gang tool by SNK with live tooling and a Fanuc Oi-Mate TB control and was wondering if anyone else is using this control and what post you are using. I am not asking for a post just curious if there is anything similar to the MPMaster post that everyone loves here.
  7. I have friends that own a machine shop and I write program for them all the time. I attach the .nc file to the email and he saves it on his laptop and then connects to the machine through the RS232 port and loads the program, I can't remember what software he is using to send to the machine though. Some of his machines have slots that you can put a compact flash adapter in and then use a compact flash card and transfer the program from the card to the machine. You would still need a way to get the file from the PC he gets his email on to the card. HTH
  8. Mine open fine, just have to select the solidworks file type and open any file.
  9. We have a lot of guys here also that won't make the switch to X2 or X, they insist V9 was the best version. I have tried many times to show them the advantages of the "X" versions but they just argue with me how bad of a switch it was, so I just tell them if they want to do things faster and easier to call me.
  10. That looks awesome Cadcam, I only have one question doesn't tomorrow only have 1 M?
  11. I've noticed this mainly when I open a file from V9. Haven't had any problems because of it as of yet.
  12. Rule #1: Don't ask for a Post Processor. Ask this question as your first message here and you won't necessarily like the responses you receive. The eMastercam.com Lynch Mob is on much higher alert than you could ever imagine. Look to your reseller to supply you with the proper post for your machine, or quote for the work that needs to be done. If you have something and are looking for improvements, it's a reasonable request. Maybe tell us why the post you have needs improvement. Perhaps try to participate a bit on the Forum before you go asking for something. Not unlike Habitat for Humanity, we value Sweat Equity here. Quid pro quo, Clarice. You may also want to let everyone know your company name so that your Hotmail or Yahoo email account doesn't give everyone the impression that you aren't a licensed Mastercam user.

  14. We got our dvd's last week and loaded it. There are some cool new features they added the raster to vector which helps us quite a bit since we get a lot of hand drawings from people to custom parts. I agree that it is a system hog, we are running AMD Athlon 64 2.0 processors with 1 gig of RAM and it bogs down some with certain files. I need to try and get our IT guys to let us order some more RAM.
  15. Dan do you mean Mastercam help doesn't tell you where the buttons are? If so when you are on some of the help screens at the top right there is a sentence "How do I get here" and when you click it will tell you how to get to that particular function they are discussing. We are very lucky with our reseller here as well, we usually have answers within a few hours or sometimes less. We also have the capability for them to take over our PCs so they can help us get through a problem. I know some of the guys here have used it and say it is pretty awesome.
  16. X2 still has the Rast2vec.dll but in my opinion it leaves a little to be desired, at least with the stuff we have tried it on. If you use the Run User Application button and then select Rast2Vec.dll it should bring up the Raster 2 Vector converter.
  17. We have 3 computers here that all use th3 Quadro FX 3000 video card, we haven't had any problems with them yet. I think we have been using them for 3 or 4 years, but I could be wrong. I just loaded an older set of drivers version 81.67 to deal with the new version of solidworks, they don't recommend the newest version.
  18. I've been just copying my config files from the old version and putting them in the new version and haven't had any problems.
  19. I wouldn't go back either, things can be done so much quicker and easier in X2 than some of the older versions. We have people here that refuse to use the new versions saying that they took a good thing with version 9 and made it worse going to X. I can only try to explain so many times before I just tell them do what you want but you could do things much quicker with the new versions.
  20. Mine has been doing this for a while, mine is usually with the 2D toolpath toolbar some of the icons disappear but when I run the cursor back over them they usually reappear. I brought this up before and someone(can't remember who) had me change some of my video card settings, but I didn't any different results.
  21. Thanks for all the help got it fixed. I also needed to uninstall MC and clean the registry out manually of all listings for cnc software and mastercam then reinstalled and used Roger's method to setup the program to open the files and now everything is good to go.
  22. I just opened a MC9 file then closed mastercam and tried to reselect mastercam as the default program to open MC9 files but still no,luck. I think my registry got wacked somehow because I noticed that my display options in the operations manager won't stick when I set them. I can set them but when I close mastercam and reopen they are back to the default settings.
  23. Has anyone else ever had the problem when you try to open a file and it isn't associated with a certain program it gives you the open with window but the program you want isn't listed and when you browse and click the programs .EXE file it won't add it to the open with list? Here is a screenshot of the open with windw without mastercam listed. I was trying to open a MC9 file in X2 but if I just double-click on the file to have it open mastercam i get the open with window. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
