geometry creation

A simple question.

I want to create a series of arcs (or whatever) at positions relative to each other.

 

I place one and then want to create another at a position say 4" over.

 

I could select "relative" and then select the center of the previous arc and input my numbers but arcs are small and I may need to zoom in for the auto-cursor to pick the right point, etc.

 

Isn't there a keystroke or button I can hit for "last". Like in my toolpaths I can elect to redrill the "last" bolt circle.

 

I must admit that I miss the 9.0 days when I could use all keystrokes to

"l"ast

"r"ectangular

enter my number then enter.

 

I hate having to grab the mouse and select points. Is there a solution?

what about Transforming the original, however many times you want, where ever you want.

 

The keystrokes are still there, you just have to mouse over the ribbon bar and they appear.

You can also activate the keystrokes by first tapping the alt key. you'll know it's activated when you see the underlines in the menu like in the good ol' days.

Transforming works better when each move is uniform.

But your solution does have merit only because I have a custom key map for translate.

 

Again, my original question was what is the keystroke (or button) for "last"?

Tapping the alt key only goes so far.

"c"ircle center point

from there if I hit "r" I'm changing my radius.

 

No way to choose position with the keystrokes.

 

Can I create a key map for "relative to last position"?

There is an icon for all result in C hooks folder located on the FTP site. Would that help?

I did create a key map for "all results" instead of the icon and then tried "all results" at that point but that just selects the last geometry created, not the point at which it was placed.

That's absolutely correct. You do not need to take my advice.

It wasn't advice it was a suggestion.

You could also set your autocurser for arc center only then you will not need to zoom in.

If you use transform and you know how far to move it , transform your result and tell it how far to go. If it is from the original, transform group instead. Your original is the group and result is of course the result of the transform. You don't have to give first position just fill in dialog box the distance and woolah.

They just created a quick key for relative not long ago (MR1?). Holding down Shift and selecting a point seems to ring a bell. If that doesn't work, check the What's New file, or Help.

The autocursor power keys come defaulted off for some reason. Go into the autocursor menu and put a check mark in the "enable power keys" box. Then you will have all the old V9 power keys.

Apparently, the answer is "no".

No, I don't think there is a button for last point. (there is one for chain). The closest thing you will get is relative to a point.

if you have more than one or two entities to create relative to a point you can always move your origin. This would make it so you don't need to use relative for multiple peices of geometry. Also, this can be mapped to a hot key.
