  1. always rotate and move original part/model to Origin for first op. use WCS after that.
  2. It WILL work but it is not correct. When I first started with npt we didn't use the angle and never had a problem with the npt sealing. But I have started to use it. Mastercam makes it easy. The angle is 1 degree 47 minutes. I think I use 1.78 degrees.
  3. Before you import your ops from another program, import the tool list first. Then import your ops. I haven't had any probs doing it this way.

  5. Tried that pip. Nothing in the ruled parameters would trim to the z depth. I checked the z depth for plane 1 and plane 2 and it trimmed my y axis instead.

  7. Ok, so now it trims the z depth but it gives me alot of moves that do nothing. Goes down to the z depth and rapids up then over to the other end of the ruled toolpath and does the same thing. Down then back up. Does this about 4 times before cutting the rest of the toolpath. Do I have to adjust the size of the chain that I'm trimming too?
  8. So my chain that I am trying to trim to should be in a dif plane than what the ruled toolpath is in?
  9. I'm trying to trim a ruled toolpath but what I want it to trim to is the Z axis, not the x or y. Is there a way to do this? Thanks

  11. The carbide spot/mills will not hold a tip in steel. They are great in aluminum though. Spot holes and chamfer with same tool.
  12. Is there a way to change the move that is outside the open pocket to a rapid move? I know I can do it in "toolpath editor" but I have 11 steps with 5 moves to change. If I could change the ones on the first step and it would change the rest of the same moves on the next steps it would be ok. But it doesn't look like we can do that. I know I could save the toolpath geo and step down, but is there an easier way?
  13. I can't remember how. But you've already made the font, you should be able to save it and use it as if it was a normal Mastercam font. If you check the fonts for Mastercam, they are an mcx file. You could even modify the ones that are in Mastercam now.
  14. Are you using g code (ISO programming) or are you set up for "plain language programming"?
  15. On our Heidenhain, if it isn't a peck drill op, it needs to be programmed with linear moves. We were able to get away with the peck by telling the machine that the peck was larger than the distance to drill. As far as boring in and out, not sure if it's possible. I'll look into it further. I have a book.
  16. t651 moves less than t6. If you don't want the part to move after machining, use t651.
  17. Go to settings, configuration, toolpaths, and uncheck "Repaint toolpath". This took care of it for me.

  19. Tucson is having an X4 roll-out party on the 2nd or 3rd of June (get to choose). Do you know when your roll-out date is?
  20. This is exactly why I use a regular hasp key. Not the net key. You can take it wherever you have Mastercam loaded on the computer. I also take a copy of my config files and such so that the computer at home is same as at work. Only difference at home is that the files are kept in different places. On the network at work and off of a USB data key at home.
  21. Several ways this can be done. 1. Use different work offsets for each part and lay out plate accordingly. 2. Merge all of your parts into one file and lay them out on the plate. Then program your parts. I would still use different work offsets as you probably will never do these in the same sequence again.
  22. Didn't do a repair, but we did a complete re-install from disk. Same prob though.
