2D open pocket

I think the answer will be simple, but I'm scratching my head over it. When I chain a open pocket using the open pocket tab, my chain starts half way in the open pocket. How do I get it to start outside the pocket without changing it to climb mill?

Do you have the Use Open Pocket Cutting Method box checked?

if I check the open pocket cutting method box, the tool only cuts the parameter, leaving an island along the center.

When you're selecting your chain, if the arrow doesn't appear at the beginning of the entity that you click, you have something wrong with the chain. There's a gap in there or overlapping entities. That goes for any kind of chaining/selecting.

Create a point where you want the cutter to start then chain the point followed by your pocket.

the chain is in the right direction and there are no overlapping entities. I've tried this on other cpu's and it works fine, just not on mine.

Check your chaining tolerance

chaining tolerance is set to .0001. is that the normal?

Dan I do not think there is anything in the "normal" category when it comes to chaining tolerance. If you work with tolerances that require +/-.005 there is no need for your tolerance to be .0001, could cost you headaches as you have right now, but if you work with close tolerances it is importend that your geometry is chained within a tight tolerance.
