Is there a lathe forum?

Hi guys, is there a lathe forum in these forums? We've just added lathe to our system and I have a ton of questions, well, more like 3 right now. These forums have helped with mill in the past and I hate to ask previously answered questions.

1st question: On Mastercam 4 you can make a line with "D" in the horizontal value an it will make at Diameter. Is somethin like that on X2? For example, if I want to make a line for a dia of 1.5 do I make a line Horizontal .75?

So many cool things on lathe side I wish we had on mill side.

+1 that...

I started working in lathe about a year ago. The boss wanted to start progamming an old retrofitted VTL.

I was in awe of lathe when I started using it. Stock recognition was a cool feature. Then I started learning the work arounds to try to get things to work the way I needed them to.

I don't want to get into a "Type of comp" debate, but we program with a lot of control comp here. At least in mill. In my limited experience isn't a fun thing trying to use control comp in lathe. It seems to work well in finish passes but not so much in roughing.

I would like to see a lathe section on the forum. wink.gif
