I have and STL file that I need to make into a surface. I am having a problem creating a surface on a STL geometry, I was able to make a suface with loft/rule but I didn't like the results. I cannot get the net surface to work. Is there a way to use net surface or do I have to use another method?

if you save a .stl as a .sldprt I get this error when importing.

I know back in Sw2005 it did not work so I did not try it again. I just tried it using SW2008 and it still does not work.

There is no CAD data stored in an stl file
