saving in an older version

i need to send a v9.1 file to a friend who only uses v8. How can i save it to where when i email it he can open it, or any other option

File >> conveetors >> next menu save as V8.

 

He will however ONLY get the geometry, no tool paths go backwards

X6x64 can't go back

X6x32 can

 

if you're running X6x64 you'll have to Save As a step file.. unfortunately that will brick any Mastercam solids you have

in your X6 file

Gcode nailed it, but just an FYI: I'd suggest using a parasolid (x_ instead of a STEP file. STEP is pretty good, but Para is native, so there's less to "translate."

I always use X_B for solids, but if there is wireframe in the file, you've got to go with step

cause parasolids are solids only

I can open X6x64 files using X6x32 box and then save them to earlier versions of MC. However, these files do not have toolpaths in them.
