We will be getting a new DNC system soon and I would like to send my guys to a "DNC" class so we can make a logical decision when it comes time to purchace our new system. We are in Western Mass. Does anyone know of such a CLASS?

CEMENTHEAD,

I used to work for a reseller who also sells Cimco DNC software. They are Services Four (4) Automation. First they demo the product, then install the system and at the end of the install, instruct those who need to know how to use it. The Cimco DNC software is so simple there's almost no need for a class to use it. It's what we currently use here and I would recommend it to anyone looking into DNC communications. If you know anything about Windows, you can use the Cimco DNC MAX software. HTH cheers.gif

S4A is our reseller and DNCMax rocks. Call Frank or Steve and have them come out to do the demo and look at what's going on at your shop. We looked at Predator, Focal Point, and DNCMax before we bought our system and decided on DNCMax. The quality of the DNCMax product and the strength of S4A made this an easy decision for us.

As far as a class for DNC, I think you'd be better off having [2] or [3] demos of software at your facility; you'd be surprised at how much you can learn that way.

What we did here is call the different resellers of different softwares and asked them to go and see 1 or 2 companies that uses their software with more then 5 machines connected to the server. That way we could talk to the end users ang get a demo from them (very different then a demo from the dealer).

At the end we went with Cimco DNCMax and it has been a charm to work with it. They made revisions to the software for our specific needs and the support from them is up there, where you expect it to be.

HTH

SuiteFactory here. We are a smaller company. 41 cnc's, I think. Not familiar with the other software. I believe SuiteFactory is very versatile. Allows addition of packets and much more. Don't ask me, tho, as I don't use them for lathes. Just had the mill guy mention it a couple times.
