I have a job I want machine a 15 degree angle on the front face.

What I want to do is, set the Upper turret B axis to 15 degrees move in on the face and the C-axis rotate 360° milling a groove.

I have made the T/C plane but I'm not getting the desired effect, using contour or c-axis face contour.

David did you use Contour with rotary axis and C axis as the rotary? Should work fine for your application. Well it does not work.

 

 

I had to create the circle. Will have to use vector line probably would use 35 lines every 10 deg apart, but will notice the B will move .001 to .005 degree if you use vectors if you want depth of cut capabilities.

 

 

Another way to do it is create a line then use curve 5 axis with a side tilt angle of -15 degrees. I used a .00005 filter and it worked great here is the code, but can not use depth of cut this way.

You can also draw 2 circles

1 is C/l of tool tip

the other is C/L of tool 1" up.

Then use 5X swarf (chains) and no cutter comp

with rotary set to C axis.

This works very well on 5X mills,

I've never had the chance to try it on a

mill turn.

Just wonder why it cant give a C360. F? after the lead in is finished?This is a lot closer to what I think it should be?
