I always use Solidworks but recently found the need to use MC Solids. How do I position a solid tangent to another? ie a cylinder in a vee block.

Position is what way. Are they only solids, I would create some wireframe off of the solids and use that to drive it. You could transform 3d the cylinder surface to the same plane as the V block side and align the edges, but to get the circle to sit perfect tangent to the V-Block you are going to need a circle on the V itself to translate to.

There are no "mating" conditions in MAstercam.

 

You have to position it manually.

Thanks guys, thats what I was afraid of. Yes Ron I have several solids which make up my tombstone, vee blocks, clamps, etc. was trying to find an easier method of positioning a cylindrical part into a set of vee blocks.

Just make one wire circle, tangent to the Vee angles, and transform to/from center of cylinder to center of circle.
