Stl or all mesh-s in mcamX

Hi. I want to know how i can work with mesh such STL in Mastercam X . I can't to make toolpath on STL mesh , because there are no surfaces or faces on it . Can you help me to slove this problem. Thanks

In X3 you must import the STL as a mesh not lines.

 

File, open (select STL file type), click the option button and select import as STL mesh, then open the file.

reverse over rides the STL mesh for MC. you will need to uninstall it if you want to play with MC's new functions concerning STL models.

 

curious though, if you bought the reverse product, you have 10 times the tools to work with/manipulate the STL file using reverse.

For machining an STL file in X3, you do not need to "import" it. Just create the toolpath you want, and instead of selecting surfaces, pick the "CAD file" button and navigate to your STL model...

 

So you shouldn't need to uninstall 'Reverse'...

but colin, with the new STL in X3, you can bring in the mesh, scale/transform, yadda yadda, pick it as a surface, etc... without having to use it as CAD data. actually SEE the STL you are machining. i think that is what he is after.

My Master.is not X3 , it is X version and when I import the STL mesh only lines of meses are importing , there are no verisurf in install pack .Where can I find it , or are there any possible ways ?

I dont have X installed any more (and I dont remember for sure), but if you read what Colin Gilchrist wrote, that may work for you.

Ok I it know , but to modify or to do some changes (add or remove some faces ...) is impossible , at that time , I would open another cad/soft , to do any changes . Are tere no any ways to work only in Mastercam ???

The Verisurf STL read is one of the many free add-on products for Mastercam X users.

 

If you install the Reverse product you can open large STL files for display and saving into the MCX file. When using X3 it is possible to export the Verisurf STL mesh into Mastercam STL entity for machining.

 

The Reverse product is mainly used to create curves and surfaces from point clouds or meshes. It costs 5k for the full Reverse product.

It's will be better for me to find another product which translate from meshes to surfaces or to solids and after all will be done , I'll can import into Mastercam to generate the surfaces or solids for machining , if it will be necessary I'll ask you for your soft ....My Thanks
