Hello

make sure you hit the tangent button and then just get close enough to highlight the arc.the tangent line moves around the circle depending on where you get close to it at.then enter disired angle

Thanks for the replys! But I tryed follwing the steps as requested in the video and when I apply the cursor near the arc at any point it does not highlight the arc. If I try to select any point all it does is creates a line.

Thanks

In the line creation toolbar there is a tangent button that looks like a diagonal line and an arc. It needs to be toggled 'on'. It will allow selection of arcs and spline to create geometry tangent to. It will stay on once it is selected so may need to be turned back off occasionaly, I leave mine on nearly all the time. Also look for this button in other geometry creation toolbars, it can make all kinds of things possible or be frustrating if it is turned on and you don't remember.

In version 9 (I believe) you could create a line tangent to an end point by selection the arc and then the end point of the arc. A line would be created tangent to the arc from the end point.

In version X (2, 3) you get a warning-zero length line error.

Also my line will pick up in 1/4" increments

do you have grid turned on??

see System Config/Screen/Grid Settings..

I think you have "Snap always" enabled.

If so ,turn it off.

right click in the graphics area

select Autocursor cursor and turn everything off but endpoints and arcs C/L

draw 2 circles

select line endpoints

make sure the horizontal and vetical buttons are

off and the tangent button is on.

If you hover over the first circle it should highlight.. then click to set the first endpoint

do the same with the seconf circle
