Would you wire or drill

Hey friends,

 

I have .5 diameter 10.4 inch long 17-4 SS rod.

I need to drill a .315 hole thru it.

 

I could peck 1/2 way on one side then peck the other half, then run a reamer thru to clean it up. Or i could drill a 1/8 hole thru it and send to wire edm. I wish I could get 17-4 ss tube.

You have to order a 1000 lbs just to get some.

Drill without a doubt. It's only 11X diameter... I do that in my sleep with ZERO effort. High Pressure CTS is a must though or you'll be pullin hair out.

We'd wire it just because we don't have a gun drill.

No need for a gun drill machine, you can do it on a VMC or HMC with High Pressure Coolant.

we got a wire quote coming . no bid from a couple shops we use. I have to get a gun drilling shop qualified so I can use them.
