tool edit slow

How come when I make a change to a tool it takes forever for it to take effect. There's a window that pops up that asks it you want to update all programs or create a new tool or cancel tool changes. When it comes up it takes two minutes or so for it to go away. Any ideas?

I don't think so. I'm just editing a tool while in a toolpath, like turning on the coolant or making a speed change.

Ive seen quirky stuff like that with

either the tool or the MCX file being

saved to the network.

 

All my paths are saved locally and I

havent seen this before.

All of my tool libraries are stored on my computer. I just tried it again and timed it and it took 62 seconds for it to change.

How about you MCX file ??

If its on the network try saving a copy

locally and then editing a tool.

I'm seeing the same thing, Tim. It is slow to access the parameters of our tool paths, mainly the tool path page of the parameters. I thought is was just the large surfacing tool paths that were doing it, but we are also getting slow access to the smaller 2d contour tool paths. The whole program (X3) just seems to "think" a lot more than previous versions.

any chance you copied your X2 config file

into your X3 setup?.. if so you've got file paths

leading back to your X2 install and X3 is getting confused..

It gets even worse if you've copied your X2 config

then uninstalled X2.. cause now there are file paths in your X3 config that lead to nowhere and

X3 is lost..

Open your config file in a text editor and look at all the file paths.. make sure they are pointing at the right places.

I was having the same exact problem and stumbled across something: Do you have any of your large surface programs transformed (mirrored, etc.)? I deleted the transform and everything came back up to speed. Seems like a bug in X3?
