lollipop cutter

Hello all,

I see in the tool list there is a tool called a lollipop mill. I was just wondering where I could find one of this and if they are worth trying out. I am cutting a mold with an undercut and would like to try this. Any info would help.

They work great, many suppliers carry them. I usually preffer to get a wheel cutter with a full radius, if you have the clearance.

 

I'll let some other members recommend a supplier, I don't have the time to hunt for one at the moment...

 

Surface finish contour and surface finish flowline are both capable of supporting undercut machining. Do a search on the forum. This has been covered many times.

Harvey is my personal favorite FWIW.

Harvey Tool is what we use mostly. However, you can only take light cuts with their "lolli pop" cutters.

Lolipop cutters are meant for finishing. If you need to rough, you need to be looking at a full radius keyway cutter.

As Colin mentioned in the "LINKY" set of posts,

and referring to the Surface Parameters page, go ahead and check the "Direction" radio button to highlight and activate. You can set plunge and/or retract direction vectors or lines. If a vector is wanted, enter distances in x, y and z

you want to move simultaneously. This is a slick way to get out of the undercut area when you're done machining.
