Wear cutter com questions

I recently started using wear cutter comp. All my diameter offsets are set to zero in my Haas machine. But, there seems to be a second coloum of the controller that says Actual Diameter. If I were to put into that field .500 would that effect the cutter comp at all. Because, It would be nice to have the tool come up and say .500 endmill but not using those values in the comp.

One easy way to tell is to enter the .500 value into that column then raise your tool up a few inches so it will cut air. Then look at the programmed X,Y numbers and compare them to your actual position. I would think that putting a value in that column would affect something.

Pedant point and not to be a wise guy or anything, that information is in the machine manual.

 

If not, somebody at Haas Automation needs to be whacked upside the head with a clue by four.

usually using wear you dont put anything in the main tool size column.devation from size will go in the last column.

I know what your talking about, and Im pretty sure that it does nothing to the actual cutting path. I think its just there to show (calculate) the SFPM in the commands screen.
