certificate trust file

Windows thinks STL files are certificate trust files.

Mastercam will open STL files if you select STL in the file dropdown but it will take a LONG

time to do it and there won't be much you can do with it once its open.

If you want to see what it looks like and check orientation ,

go to the Stock page, set the stock to that stl file and check Display and Solid

Also once you select STL as the file type, before you click the OK (check mark) there is an option button. Try both types "mesh" or "lines" one may work better for your application. Meshes are good for creating toolpaths with and are considered a single entity by Mastercam as opposed to the thousands of individual lines the "lines" option gives you...

Not sure why it wont open for you using the "File open" command. But I do know that some larger STL files take some time to read in. They open much slower than regular mastercam files. Just let it run for a while to see if it finally opens. Possibly have it run during lunch or in the background while working on another job on a second mastercam session.
