Thumbnails in Explorer windows 7 x64

Hi All,

 

I must be missing something simple here, Is there a way to view the thumbnails for a group of files in explorer in WIndows 7 x64? Trying to find a file from an old job and have lots to look through.

....gotta set the folder's options...its a PITA in win7....basically in an explore window one level up from the one you wanna see thumbnails in right click the target & goto properties/customize....make the folder a picture or video folder & you get thumbnail views

Actually Greg,

 

Do this, open a folder, right click and set it to Extra large or large, size is your choice.

 

The across the top tool click Tool >> Folder options >> View Tab and click the Apply to all folders.

 

This will set your default view for all folder to the view settings of your choice.

 

If you don't want to change the default setting, just right click in the window >> View and pick an image size

Thanks for the replies. Here are a few pics of what I am after

 

For example solidworks shows a thumbnail of the part in the preview pane

 

Mastercam shows no thumbnail

 

Can I get Mastercam to show the thumbnail?

That capability is provided by MCView.dll. Use the Mastercam X control panel applet to register this dll. It that does not work, it may be a compatibility issue using MCView on a 64 bit system.

It's either in WindowsSystem32, or, off the Mastercam root in Common.

Could you please explain how to do this as I can not find where I need to go to register the .dll

Go to the Windows control panel (Start button, Control panel). Double click on the Mastercam X applet. Open the Mastercam properties tree and select Components. Use the right pane to navigate to where you found the MCView.dll file and right click on it. Select Register component.

I got it working on my XP 32bit system but I can not find the mcviw.dll file on my XP 64bit system. Is this a file that is suppose to install by itself or do I need to get it somewhere?

Yeah same here. I don't have the file either on my x64 box

I spoke with the devleoper who maintains the install program and he indicated that MCView.dll is not installed on 64 bit systems at the present time. As indicated in my earlier post, this is due to some incompatibilities with 64 bit systems. We will take a look at this to try and resolve these issues.
