I didn't go to the link, but in the past, we've had offers from tool salesman to swap out our existing line of tools for free tools of their brand if we bought a certain amount of inserts. Their *real* money is in the inserts, which is why they'll give you the tool for free.

Iscar used to have a deal where they'd give you a new tool [an inserted endmill, lets say] if you gave them a competitors equivalent tool, even if it was blown up; Thad's right, they make their money on the carbide.
