Flat boundary surface creation chain issue

when creating a flat surf I go to select a closed

chain that has perpendicular entities, or branch

points, and it stop there. Select next entity

and it continues and stops at the next.

It sometimes also highlights the perpendicular

branch point???? Now as far as I am concerned there

is no way to make a flat surface on a chain when

it selects the perpendicular line, right?

Is there a way to set mastercam to 'ignore' 'vertical' branch points?

Thanks in advance

Rick

You can make a "flat" contour from 3D entities. I've done it numerous times. You have to start with chain mode set to 3D. Then pick the appropriate entities. When done you click the green check. Then in the operation parameters under the contour parameters tab you select 2D in lieu of 3D. Set the depth to where you want it to be and you are good to go.

Ok....as in Rickster's case where he is getting vertical entities selected in his chain. He could continue up or down within that 3D wire frame he is picking from. So long as he completes a logical chain to fit his needs (basicly getting back to his starting point). Then as I stated above...."in the operation parameters under the contour parameters tab you select 2D in lieu of 3D. Set the depth to where you want it to be and you are good to go".

Eric, I believe he means you can select a 'wavey'

3-d chain that is closed and switch to 2-d to

get a flat surface with out having to project the

chain flat, first.

Toonz, I found a .002" gap in my chain, that could

be why the perpendicular lines select.

Gonna make sure this particular client tightens up

his model tolerances.
