I took the hasp home this weekend to work on my skills on my home computer. I attempted to do some really complex surfacing but it took forever. When it was calculating the toolpaths Mastercam was only using like 14 to 16 percent of my total CPU speed, and half of my ram. Is there a way to let Mastercam use more of the processing power of the machine to create toolpaths faster? I don't have some dinky computer at home. Its an Intel I7 3.07 quad, 6gb of ram, 3X Geforce250's in sli, Windows 7 64bit. I think on this program it should scream but its still really slow as of right now.

I work at home all the time.

I had similar issues and the p.c.'s are identical.

I bring home these 4 folders from my work P.C.

and try them on my home p.c.

-cnc machines

-mill

-chooks

-config

I move the folders on my home p.c. to the desk top

in case I have issues, I cn put them back.

This gives me identical install and always have

been flawless including speed.

I did at one point have two different p.cs and

the speed and response times were drastically

different.

try to remember any windows adjustments and video

card settings from one to the other. That also

is a big factor with MC.

I ran a benchmark on a new I7 with 12 gigs RAM, FX5500 with a Solidstate drive on Windows 7 x64.

Honestly, only a couple of times did CPU usage hit 25% most of the time it sticks at 12%, which is 100% of 1 core.

It's great we have background tool path processing but overall processing speeds, in my opinion at least, are still slow.

BTW, the benchmark time on Vista x64 was nearly 22 minutes, in Win7 x64 over 19 minutes
