Hey guys got it to work now i just need to try and cut something with the program,only used swept2d and not c hook does that matter or do i need to use chook. Thanks for all the help

The C-hook ad's depth cuts for every step over, would work great for harder material and deeper cuts.

Sparty, as I mentioned, the Swept2R c-chook creates a "Rough" toolpath if needed for larger amounts of material to be removed prior to the finish pass. You might not need it this time, but it's there when you do.

I'm surprised no one mentioned a copy mill. They are cheap now.

I never got the ruffing passes to work worth a darn. It always output a very inefficient toolpath. Way too many small steps and stepovers. I tried a variety of different numbers to get it to work how I wanted, but was never successful. Maybe I'm the doofus.

Swept2R is not an optimum solution I admit, but, if you don't have 3D capability, it can help get a job done.

So can a 2D contour leaving extra stock and going to the appropriate depth.

 

It might be a bit harsh to say, but as good of a job as it does, it may as well not even be an option. I can ruff it much more efficiently with one or more contour/pocket toolpaths using standard MC options (stock to leave and depth). Efficiency is the key. Both will get the job done...but does it take an hour or 15 minutes?

 

Please set me straight if I just don't understand the feature. I'm not ruling that out. Send me a sample file of efficient cutting with the swept2R and I'll gladly retract my statements.
