On a Fanuc 01-MD, I set the switch to "DNC", the I select the following:

Program

"+"

DIR

and the "directory" shows the memory card is blank

If Switch to "EDIT", then goto the following:

Program

OPRT

"+"

Device

select M-Card

all the files are there

I have already set up the machine to subprogram from the card (M198 is currently how I am runnin g it)

I can upload small files to the control but I want to be able to drip feed from the memory card... can anyone help me?

Hope you guys can help

Thanx

That's not how it works CP. You have to go the M198 route to the best of my knowledge. Why the reluctance for M198?

Oh, and for the record it's 0i (Zero eye). wink.gif

To all:

we have two machines...

both machines are set up to use the M198 option..and both work with this option

Machine (A) has fanuc 18i ...goto "DNC" mode, read the program from card, hit cycle start..and the program runs

Machine (B) has fanuc 0i... (also has the "DNC" mode, want to do the same thing

James... reason is programmer/operator want "Both" options for running programs

You're probably looking aty a parameter change somewhere then. I'll see if I can dig something up. Never seen a 0i do it though. Question, you know what control software rev. each is on? That may be the issue as well.

Case in point, had a customer with a FANUC 30i control. They could use M198 PXXXX and call programs no problem. They could not however call M918 . Traced that down to software rev. I can't tell you how many FANUC Engineers I had to go through to get that figgerd out. headscratch.gif

run programs stored on the memory card as a sub prog.

1.chech parameter 138 bit 7 =1

2.check parameter 3404 bit 2

*if set to 1 the p address in m198 will indicate a program number in the card

*if set to 0 the p address in m198 will indicate

a file name in the card(i use prog. number)

3.check that the i/o channel is set to 4

4.in the main prog, use m198 to call a sub prog. from the memory card.

5.main prog. example

o1234

m198pxxxx(xxxx=depending on setting of parameter 3404)

m30.

i think i got it right.

What about reading off a USB stick? I have I/O set to 17 right now because I input all programs from that card. I have a program that is bigger than the machine memory so I need to run it from the usb with a sub program. Program on the card is o100 so I was trying to call M198P100 and I get the following message

SR1807 Parameter Setting Error

Have you tried an Upper-case O for the program identifier?

For M198 to work the file name has to be OXXXX and that identifier should be present in the file itself.

No, nothing to do with the file name right now. What is happening is when I go to the program screen, I see whats on the USB, but I don't have a DNC SET soft key.

All I have is Search F Input F Output Delete Device Change Refresh and Character EXT

On the second menu I only have Select Start Create Folder and Rename

The other side menu I have Restart Dir+ and OPRT

Have you tried actually selecting a file?

You should still be able to get to DNC mode.

You're probably going to need to contact your MTB.

If this is an 0i-MD then it should be there.

What machine is this?

You've definitely got parameter issues because M198Pxxxx should work right out of the box.

Yes I went on the file and hit hard key "input". I am not sure another way to select the file. Am I selecting it wrong?

The machine is a Hyundai WIA 750B

Its just under 2 years old.

How can I find out what model the conrol is? All it says on the front is Fanus i series.

It's entirely possible that the DNC mode for USB isn't enabled.

However, I think I know what you're doing.

You're in EDIT mode and expecting DNC to work.

If the machine doesn't have an Analog rotary switch to put the machine into Tape mode try this.

1) Change the device to USB

2) Highlight a file in the list

3) Switch the Control to AUTO(MEM) mode

4) Turn on Single Block

5) Press Cycle Start.

I'm not at a machine so it's difficult to do this from memory and it may not work.

If this doesn't work then it's likely your machine doesn't have DNC enabled for USB.

Typically, you'll either have an analog rotary switch or it will show up as a softkey like the graphic I posted.

Your best bet is to contact your Hyundai WIA dealer for the answer.

I'm not in edit mode. I am actually in tape mode. There is not a rotary switch but there is a button for it beside memory.

Also device is always on usb cause that is how I normally transfer programs.

I'll try what you said though in case I am missing something.
